A Scribbly challenge to choose a color from a Quo palette and write! So here it is...
Daisy had always admired those sultry and demure women who seemed to have everything under control. Perfectly sexy in a classy sort of way – not tacky, and always put together with tasteful glam and just the right outfits for every occasion.
She longed to be like them, with their confident gait, classic looks, mysterious glances, smoky eyes, long lashes, Audrey Hepburn brows. Exuding an overall alluring demeanor.
But try as she might, Daisy was a walking train wreck. Even her name, Daisy, presented a vision of summer fun and frolic rather than an intriguing woman of the world.
Daisy was not voluptuous …most people commented, “there goes Daisy, the girl with two backs” …she was horrified.
She had always been a bit clumsy, and her attempts at being sultry usually ended in disaster. When she tried to walk with a sway in her hips, she would often trip and stumble even while wearing flats – can you imagine wearing 5 inch Jimmy Choos? They would be a broken hip waiting to happen.
When she tried to lower her voice to a sultry kitten purr, she would end up sounding like she was choking on stale crackers or Charlie Brown's teacher "wan wan wan wan wan"...not a sultry sound…
When she tried to wear sexy outfits, she would inevitably spill something on herself or get tangled up in her own clothes, a sweater would get a snag, her panty-hose would tear….
Even trying to take her glasses off her head would end up in a tussle, catching several hairs in the arms of her glasses she would end up looking like Cruella Deville! Hair in all directions and her glasses dangling from her locks. Doing the sultry hair-flip ending up giving her whip lash. How do some women make this look so easy.
Say it with me…”train wreck”!
Despite her numerous mishaps, Daisy refused to give up on her desire of being sultry and seductive. In her mind, this was going to be the new Daisy!
So, she continued to practice her walk, her voice, and her style, determined to get it right. Her walk could only be described as one of a newborn giraffe tottering it’s first steps on stilted legs.
Daisy read books on how to be seductive, watched old movies with femme fatales, and even took a few classes on burlesque dancing. However, each attempt even more disastrous than the previous ones. There are no words in the English language to describe the disastrous event following her sultry attempts.
No matter how hard she tried, Daisy just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. Her attempts at being sultry always came off as awkward and contrived, and she never felt comfortable in her own skin.
One day, Daisy decided to give up on her dream of being sultry and demure. She realized that she was trying too hard to be something she wasn't, and that she was much happier being her clumsy, quirky unsultry self.
She threw away her risqué outfits and replaced them with comfortable clothes and sensible shoes that made her feel good. She stopped trying to lower her voice and instead spoke in her natural tone.
Daisy started to embrace her clumsiness, laughing off her mistakes instead of being embarrassed by them.
As it turned out, Daisy was much more attractive and sexier when she was simply being herself. Her natural warmth and humor drew people to her, she found that she was much happier and more confident when she wasn't trying to be someone else.
In the end, Daisy learned that being sultry and demure wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Goodbye Sultry, hello Self!
It was then she realized that true beauty came from being comfortable in your own skin, and that perhaps being a walking train wreck wasn't such a bad thing…
…After all, as with all train wrecks, people just can’t look away…
